What Chicago gym is right for you?

          pastedGraphic.pdf
The problem isn’t a shortage of health clubs in Chicago. The problem is, with so many to choose from, how do you pick the one that’s right for you? For most people, the club closest to home or work is the obvious choice. But, what if neither of those cuts it for you. It’s not upscale enough for your taste, It doesn’t have the right equipment, or what they have is ancient. They don’t have a pool. I want a personal trainer, but I don’t want to be on display for everyone else in the gym. It’s not family friendly (what activities do they have for your child).
pastedGraphic_1.pdf Studies have shown , people are less likely to workout if they have to travel too far out of their way. Too far being rather subjective for some, how far are you willing to travel to have access to the perfect gym. I’ve compiled a list of gyms that may have definite appeal, based on your particular needs.
Best Health Club for the entire Family
Lakeshore Athletic Club on Fullerton
When talking about this club, and it’s family friendly environment where do I  begin. The club is huge, but you never feel lost. Activities for every interest is where this club excels. With multiple tennis courts they offer a variety of classes for the entire family. Two swimming pools, with more aquatics  classes. A large lounge area with restaurant where the family can meet up after everyone is has gone off to do their own thing. Dad can pump iron on  the upper level. Mom can do yoga, Zumba, or an assortment of other group fitness classes. There is a summer camp program, short sports, towel service, and free parking.

Best Bodybuilding Gym
Quads Gym
When you get serious about your body, and it’s muscular development, there is NO OTHER gym to consider. Regardless of gender, if you are looking to lose weight, or get yourself in competition form. whether it’s your first competition or you already have your pro card, this is a serious gym. Ranked as “One of the top ten gyms in America” by both, Muscle & Fitness Magazine and Muscular Development Magazine. They have equipment you will not see at any other gym in Chicago.. The time will fly by, just trying to figure out “ What does that machine work?”. For those looking to take their physique to the next level, you really should check them out.
Best Club to train for a Triathlon
Fitness Formula Clubs
The very cool thing, this club does, is it’s winter indoor triathlon. If you have never done a triathlon, this is a fun way to test the waters. Now, there are some phenomenal facilities completely dedicated to training for endurance sports. Fitness Formula offers the opportunity to train for your upcoming event, and if you just wanted to try it and move on, there is a full amenity health club at your disposal.
In a Category By Itself
East Bank Club
It’s East Bank, so how much really needs to be said. It offers everything you would want in a Health Club. You name it they have it. Beyond the health club, it’s different things to different people. Meet to make that power business deal. Meet that special someone. Become workout buddies with one of Chicago’s who’s who. Make a date of your day at the club. Get your car fully detailed while you workout. Afterwards step into the full service salon. Have a meal at Maxwell’s at the Club. Pick up your beautifully detailed car, and continue at one of the nearby hot spots.
Best kept Secret
The Fitness Lair
This very exclusive personal training studio is in the heart of downtown chicago, right on Michigan Avenue. When results are all that matter, and you don’t know how to get there on your own, you don’t like the crowded “meat market” atmosphere of the average gym, you feel like you are paying the gym’s overhead for access  to a trainer, you don’t need a eucalyptus steam room, don’t need heated towel service, don’t want people staring. You want results and someone passionate about what they do to help you get there.
Now obviously there’s a lot more gyms/health clubs in Chicago, with new ones opening up all the time. I’ve been to all of the big chain gyms in Chicago I haven’t been to every one the smaller health clubs, but the ones listed here I have been to. These deserved to be mentioned for what they offer, and how they serve a need for a variety of people.
I welcome feedback regarding these choices. Maybe you feel I unjustly overlooked a particular facility. If you ate affiliated with a club, feel free to contact me. I would love to visit.
